BMO Field opened in 2007 as the first soccer-specific stadium in Canada, built primarily for Toronto FC of Major League Soccer. It was expanded in 2016 to host the 2017 MLS All-Star Game and later the 2018 MLS Cup, which Toronto FC won. The stadium also hosted matches for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, BMO Field will host group stage matches, with temporary expansions increasing capacity to over 45,000.
